Stunning views, interesting history very well presented in displays, videos and of course the huge war mechanisms! Lots of steps, climbs and towers to overcome but well worth it. Full review by neilcoyb2018

Dogs are allowed at Chateau de Castelnaud on a leash -- since parts of this castle are essentially a museum, I would hope it would be a short leash--however, there are outside areas.

However, this must not deter you from visiting : The one hour guided tour includes only the exterior of the castle and involves only one stair. Hi. Check the website from the Castle itself. It has a diary of events, which only mentions animations until June. When we went there mid september 2014, there were none. It looks like the demonstrations are commensurate with attendance, and at this period of the year, it's fairly quiet. (All the kids go back to school in september, in France.) All the more time - and room - to enjoy peacefully the old stones and the quiet of the countryside! Enjoy! Rom
