This is a great park to stay at. Sites are great, bathrooms awesome, great bike riding trails, interesting history of the property, sensational sunsets and birds galore!Full review by thomjane

Really nice park on lake Pontchartrain with an actual beach. It has walking and biking trails, and campgrounds. It cost us $6 to enter.Full review by MALENURSERN
I have two very curious elementary school aged boys and will be camping at Fontainebleau State Park in late March/Early April. How nervous do I need to be about alligators? Is it ok to let them explore as long as they stay away from the marshy areas?

Is this area friendly and safe for people of color?
A:
Absolutely. Everyone is friendly, and everyone says Hi to each other. People saying,"Did you see the deer?".Also, the rangers and the camp host are making rounds during the day.
I’m looking to stay in one of these cabins on the lake this June. I was wondering what the bug situation is going to be like? My wife is a mosquito magnet and will veto this vacation if there are too many biting bugs in June. Any information you can provide will be a huge help. Thank you for your time!

I have never stayed there in June but it sholdn't be any worse than at your own place as Tavares is surrounded by bodies of fresh water which could breed mosquitoes. The worst bug problem I ever encountered anywhere was on a summer visit to the Everglades. We didn't even make it 50 yards toward Mahogany Hammock before we were eaten alive. At Fountainebleu, I think you'd be fine with a cabin on the lake. The porches are enclosed to enjoy the view free of any bugs. I would think it would be a bigger issue in the campground area. Also, especially if you travel with pets, I would be more concerned about the gators in the lagoon along the boardwalk on the nature trail. I would much rather be bitten by a mosquito!
