Coca-Cola has recalled some of its soft drinks in Europe after higher-than-normal levels of a chemical called chlorate were detected in bottles and cans at a Belgian production plant.

Following a recall of Coca-Cola drinks across Europe, Britons have been alerted as beverages are pulled from shelves. Elevated levels of chlorate were identified in a small number of Coca-Cola products imported to Great Britain.

Coca-Cola has launched a Europe-wide recall of beverages due to high chlorate levels. Germany, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium and Great Britain are affected. The recall concerns soft drinks and cola with the production codes 328 GE to 338 GE.
