Senior pacer Mohammed Shami, who last represented India in the 2023 ICC World Cup at home, has represented the Men in Blue in the shortest format just 23 times since making his debut in 2014.

India's injured quick Jasprit Bumrah will miss the five-match T20 international series with England, while Mohammad Shami has returned to the squad after more than a year out with an ankle injury, the Indian cricket board (BCCI) announced on Saturday.

Amid the delay in announcing the squad for CT 2025, the BCCI on Saturday announced the Team India squad for upcoming five-match T20I series against England, beginning from 22 January in Kolkata.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami on Saturday returned to India's squad for the upcoming T20 international series against England after more than a year's break due to injury.

India will host England for a five-match series which starts on January 22, with the series concluding on February 12 with a three-match one-day series to follow before next month's Champions Trophy.

The report further added that the T20 squad, which may be announced over the weekend, may not have any surprise exclusions or inclusions

The highlight of the squad for the five-match series is the return of pacer Mohammed Shami back to international cricket after 14 months.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has finally made a comeback to the India squad with his selection for the five T20Is against England starting on January 22 in Kolkata. He returns after last playing for India in the ODI World Cup final in November 2023, after which he had ankle surgery and also suffered from knee-related niggles.
