Google DeepMind is assembling a new team of artificial intelligence researchers to develop “world models” that can simulate physical environments. The initiative will be led by Tim Brooks, a former co-lead for OpenAI’s Sora project who joined DeepMind in October to work on Google’s video generation and world simulators.

In order to develop AI models that can replicate the real world, Google is assembling a new team. Under Tim Brooks’ leadership, Google is assembling a new artificial intelligence team within its DeepMind division to develop models that can replicate the real world.

The report suggests that Gemini might arrive on Wear OS through an update to the existing Assistant app. When that happens, though, is currently unclear. The process of bringing up the assistant will likely remain the same — by using the "Hey Google" wake word or by long pressing your wearable's side button.

Google Gemini was launched in 2023, and is the search giant's answer to the global surge of interest in AI models like ChatGPT. Now, it seems that Google is planning to replace the Google Assistant feature on many of the best Android smartwatches with a more capable AI assistant.

Google plans to incorporate its Gemini AI model into the Google TV experience later in 2025 to make interacting with your TV more intuitive and helpful.
