Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi are the three venues that have been chosen to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 from February 19. January 25, 2025 is the deadline for the completion of works.

Earlier, a report had claimed that given the underprepared nature of the Pakistani stadiums, a "miracle" would be needed from both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) to complete the construction work on time.

The visit aimed to ensure that all necessary facilities are in place ahead of the tournament's scheduled start.

Pakistan last hosted a major international tournament in the 1996 World Cup, and has already been dogged by problems to their stadiums. The ICC is also wary of the situation, hoping not to repeat the logistical disappointments faced in the USA during last year’s T20 World Cup.

Amid reports suggesting the Champions Trophy might be moved from Pakistan due to stadium renovation delays, a PCB official expressed confidence in Pakistan hosting the ICC tournament.

Pakistan was originally scheduled to host the entire tournament in three cities – Lahore, Karachi and Rawapindi. However, the country might end up missing out entirely on hosting its first global event since the 1996 World Cup.

The International Cricket Council is working towards finalising the practice facilities and the venues for the warm-up matches. The ICC delegation is keeping a close eye on the renovation work at the three venues in Pakistan.
