Danielle Sassoon, the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan, has resigned her post, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's office for the Southern District of New York said on Thursday. Sassoon's resignation comes after the Justice Department ordered her to drop corruption charges against New York City mayor Eric Adams,

Sassoon said federal prosecutors planned to charge Adams with destroying evidence and instructing others to do so, which would have added to his case.
