Park City’s Main Street will be closed to cars during the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. It’s the first road closing of this kind in the event’s history.

Whether the Sundance Film Festival remains in Utah or moves to Boulder, Colorado or Cincinnati, Ohio in 2027, the 2025 gathering will see some big changes. And we don’t mean on screen. Rather on the streets — Park City’s often congested Main Street.

Park City will close much of Main Street to vehicular traffic during the opening days of the Sundance Film Festival.

Park City Film regularly showcases films at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium. During Sundance, however, the auditorium is used to screen festival films. Park City Film Executive Director Katy Wang said the changeover is pretty seamless.

The hotel ballroom will be used by Sundance Institute on Jan. 24 when the festival teams with Google TV for a starry gala fundraiser honoring Michelle Satter, James Mangold, Cynthia Erivo and others.

While the festival continues as expected, devastation remains in LA County.
