BC swept BU met recently in a home-and-home weekend series on Jan. 24 and 25. This will be the 23rd time that the Eagles and Terriers meet in the Beanpot final. Its the Terriers that own a 12-10 advantage, but the last time BU beat BC in the final was a 2-1 overtime win in 2007.

Boston College and Boston University have not met in the Beanpot Final since 2016. But on Monday night at the Garden, the two Commonwealth Avenue archrivals decided to do something about that.

Beanpot semifinal game was as easy as one, two, three — first-period goals, that is — for No. 1 Boston College men’s hockey.  Last time BC played Northeastern in the semifinal round of the Beanpot, the Huskies beat the Eagles 3–1.

NU retaliated with a goal at 14:39. Freshman right wing Ben Poitras redirected Jackson Dorrington’s shot from the blue line past Fowler for his first of the season. BC made it 3-1 at 18:29 when defenseman Eamon Powell crashed the left circle and ripped a wrister that beat Whitehead 5-hole for his second of the season.

Both No. 1 BC and No. 8 BU took care of business on Monday, earning their first meeting in the Beanpot title game since 2016.

The No. 1 Boston College Eagles men’s hockey team knocked off the reigning Beanpot champions, the Northeastern Huskies 8-2 in the semifinals on Monday night at TD Garden in Boston. The Eagles entered the matchup on a hot steak and that continued in their first game of the tournament.

BC and Northeastern will battle it out in the nightcap of the opening round of the 2025 Beanpot for a shot at next week’s championship game. BU topped Harvard, 7-1, earlier in the day at TD Garden to advance.
