"Anora" and "Wicked" were surprise winners at the Critics Choice Awards Friday night, while "The Substance" also won major awards. "Shōgun" and "Hacks" dominated the ceremony on the TV side.

“Wicked,” “Emilia Pérez,” and “The Substance” each triumphed with three wins at the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards on Friday night. However, it was “Anora” that claimed the best picture prize at this year’s ceremony.

Anora took home the top prize at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards. On Friday, Feb. 7, writer-director Sean Baker took the stage in Los Angeles to accept the best picture win, beating out fellow nominees A Complete Unknown, The Brutalist, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, Nickel Boys, Sing Sing , The Substance and Wicked.

Shogun' dominated the TV category at the 30th Critics Choice Awards after it took home the prestigious award for Best Television Series-Drama, amongst big honours. Tadanobu Asano won the award for 'Best Supporting Actor in Drama Series' while Moeka Hoshi bagged the same award in the actress category for their performances in Shogun.

"So unexpected, so unexpected," said "Anora" director Sean Baker from the stage of the Critics Choice Awards in Santa Monica on Friday night. Baked wasn't alone in his surprise. The marvelous madcap comedy-drama-adventure took home the evening's final award for Best Picture - without winning a single award anywhere else during the ceremony.
