The majority of the NBA world continues to slam Nico Harrison and the Dallas Mavericks owners for deciding to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for a lackluster return. While there is the occasional person who says the Mavericks came out on top, those people are few and far between.

The Luka Doncic trade was so unexpected and controversial that a certain segment of frustrated fans have refused to accept any basketball-centric motivations for the deal. Instead, those fans have looked for conspiracies that might explain the out-of-left-field deal between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont, who purchased the majority stake from Mark Cuban in 2024, called out Doncic’s conditioning and willingness to do whatever it takes to win after shockingly trading him; and he doesn’t care how others take those comments.
