A God of War live service game has just been killed by Sony, along with another live game from another studio.

The two US-based Sony subsidiaries working on the now-cancelled games are not shutting down, though it's unclear if anyone will be laid off.

Sony has canceled two unannounced live service games, including a God of War game. Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games will not be shut down.

While the older God of War games are some of the best that PlayStation has to offer, no one would blame you for not enjoying them, as they are somewhat dated. There's an alternative order that can ease you into the God of War universe: playing the Norse Saga before the Greek Saga.

The biggest news is that Sony is bringing Ragnarök to PS Plus. The sequel to 2018's God Of War, Ragnarök is a bigger and often better open-world action game that tells an epic story about the end of the world, gods fighting each other, and a father learning to let his son grow up. It’s a great game and its nice to see it make the leap to PS Plus.

Sony has revealed the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog additions for January. They include God of War Ragnarök, Sayonara Wild Hearts, Citizen Sleeper and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

PlayStation Plus is adding more titles to its Game Catalog in January, and the list includes some heavy hitters. God of War Ragnarok leads the list, letting subscribers who never bought the sequel continue on Kratos and Atreus' adventure as they try to prevent the Norse apocalypse.

Ragnarok is one of several games coming to PlayStation Plus this January, rounding out a disappointing month for Essential subscribers.

The PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium January 2025 lineup certainly starts the year off strong with big hitters like God of War: Ragnarok and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name on the subscription service.
