A former Northeastern University employee was sentenced on Monday for staging a hoax bomb explosion and making false statements to police about it, officials said.

Federal prosecutors say a former lab manager at Northeastern University has been sentenced to just over a year in prison for staging a hoax explosion at the Boston campus and then lying about what happened to a federal agent.
