An epic aerial assault was underway Saturday as a fleet of aircraft worked to prevent the Palisades fire from hitting homes in Brentwood and Encino. A shift in winds late Friday sent the fire north and east through the Santa Monica Mountains,

The massive Palisades fire has destroyed an estimated 75% of the Pacific Palisades and officials say the 1/3rd of the eastern edge of Malibu has also been destroyed. The fire is now threatening the nearby communities of Brentwood and Encino.

The death toll from the 21,596-acre wildfire that leveled much of Pacific Palisades increased to five and while fire crews slowly extended containment of the blaze to 11%, the fire made a late push to the northeast,
