Several flights between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Reagan National Airport have been canceled or delayed following a deadly collision between an American Airlines jet and an Army helicopter on Wednesday.
An employee working at Charlotte Douglas International Airport was struck and killed by a ramp vehicle while on the tarmac Monday, authorities said.
American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ: AAL) owns PSA, which already has a large presence in Charlotte, operating regional flights on American’s behalf. American is based in Fort Worth, Texas, but runs its second-largest hub at Charlotte Douglas, known as CLT.
"We are devastated by the accident involving a team member at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family," AA said.

According to Charlotte-Douglas officials, an American Airlines employee died around 9:30AM on Monday. Wilmington native, Kevin Ullman, watched the tragedy unfold from his seat. He says the luggage cart was backing up and the victim may have been in a blind spot for the driver.
"Our deepest condolences go out to the employee's family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time," airport officials said in a statement confirming the death.
