CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( WBTV /Gray News) – An employee was killed Monday at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that around 9:38 a.m., officers were called to the airport for reports of an employee being hit by a vehicle on the tarmac.
"We are devastated by the accident involving a team member at Charlotte International Airport," an American Airlines spokesperson said.
The unidentified employee was working on the aircraft’s ramp when they were struck by a ramp vehicle around 9:30 a.m. Monday.
