Will the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings in 2025 be Sam Darnold, J.J. McCarthy or Daniel Jones? It's the biggest question of the offseason and Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah isn't tipping his hand.
"I would say most likely, he's played his final game in Minnesota," Schultz said on The Herd. In the caption he posted with the video of the segment, he said he has "a hard time seeing (Darnold) back in Minnesota" and that "J.J. McCarthy is the future."
When the lights got the brightest, Sam Darnold reverted to his ghost-seeing ways. And that makes it a lot easier to allow Darnold to become a free agent and to move forward with 2024 first-rounder J.J. McCarthy.

The Minnesota Vikings went out with a whimper on a Monday night, and in the process, Sam Darnold may have cost himself any shot to return as the club's unquestioned starting quarterback. A pleasant surprise for much of an explosive 2024 campaign,
Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah did not say much when asked about the team's upcoming decision to make on QB Sam Darnold.
Sam Darnold was previously expected to receive a new contract worth more than Baker Mayfield's $100 million, three-year deal in Tampa Bay - but that now seems unlikely
The Minnesota Vikings have entered yet another offseason with significant questions around their quarterback depth chart.
Last summer, Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell gave J.J. McCarthy a ringing endorsement as the team's quarterback of the future. "Everyone should be excited that we got our young franchise quarterback in the building,” O’Connell said in August after McCarthy underwent season-ending knee surgery.
“I’m very excited about where J.J. is at,” Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said in an end-of-season press conference. “He’s returned to on-field training. He’s returned to being right where we hoped he’d be at this point to have the type of offseason to be able to answer that question (about whether or not he can start beginning in 2025).”
