Jelly Roll is stepping into a new Jelly role! The Grammy-nominated country superstar is set to appear on the 23rd season of American Idol, as the show’s first-ever “artist in residence,” according to Variety.

Country superstar Jelly Roll will mentor contestants starting during Hollywood Week. “Honored to be Idol’s first-ever Artist in Residence - mentoring with heart, soul and real experience,” Jelly said on social media.

American Idol viewers will see a few changes when the show returns next month. Katy Perry exited last season, and while some hoped Jelly Roll would be sitting at the judges’ table, that isn’t the case.
