India has won the toss and elected to bowl first in the series-opening T20 against England's cricketers in Kolkata.

Inspired bowling and a 34-ball 79 by opener Abhishek Sharma helped India to a crushing seven-wicket win over England in the first T20 international on Wednesday. Sharma kept up the batting blitz to take the sting out of the England bowling.

The Indian team delivered a brilliant performance in the first T20I of the ongoing white-ball series against England. Speaking of the game, England came in to bat first and posted a total 132 runs in the first innings of the game.

India defeated England by seven wickets in the first T20I match in Kolkata. Abhishek Sharma's 79-run innings was pivotal in chasing down England's total of 132.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India is all set to lock horns with England for the first T20I which is underway at the Eden Gardens. The T20I series between India and England will witness five matches being played at different venues.

India's T20 team showed it was unaffected by the ailments afflicting the longer-format sides as the reigning world champions completed a comprehensive seven-wicket win in the first T20 against England in Kolkata on Wednesday.
