Legendary Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, who was born in the Motor City and attended Central High School, is part of the four-man class revealed at the NFL Honors on Thursday night. Gates, along with cornerback Eric Allen, defensive end Jared Allen and wide receiver Sterling Sharpe will be inducted in Canton, Ohio on Aug. 2.

Los Angeles Chargers great Antonio Gates gets another shot at the Hall of Fame on Thursday after being robbed of first-ballot status one year ago. Gates fell short in 2024 despite being one of the names to revolutionize the position in the NFL.

However, these four players are icons in the game, from one of the best tight ends to ever play the game to one of the most ferocious pass-rushers ever to sack opposing quarterbacks. The honorees were unveiled during Thursday night’s NFL Honors ceremony in New Orleans.
