After last week's winter storm, thousands in our area were left in the dark. AEP said that as of Friday, Jan. 10, they'd restored power to everyone in the region, and they're prepared for any more weather that comes our way.

Less than 7,500 customers in West Virginia and Virginia remain without power because of power outages caused by a winter storm. According to a Storm Response Update from Appalachian Power, around 7,300 Appalachian Power customers are still without power in West Virginia and Virginia as of 2:00 p.

Customers of Appalachian Power Co., who have been hit repeatedly with higher electricity bills, would be able to switch to another provider under legislation proposed Wednesday to the General Assembly.

The power company says hazardous conditions, including slippery roads and ice-covered terrain, continue challenging the company’s restoration efforts.
