Sepulveda Fire initially started 12:36 a.m. Jan. 23 in Los Angeles County. After being active for 35 hours, it has burned 45 acres. As of Friday noon, the fire crew successfully encircled the entire perimeter of the fire in control lines. The cause is, however, still being investigated.

The Hughes Fire has now burned 8,096 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties since igniting late Wednesday morning near Castaic Lake, according to Cal Fire. As more than 4,000 firefighters responded to the scene, an air tanker and four helicopters attacked the blaze from the air, preventing it from jumping nearby Interstate 5, officials said.

Jan. 30 A new wildfire was reported today at 6:01 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. There is no information on the containment of the fire and its cause remains undetermined.
