Freezing rain and colder temperatures are coming to the Myrtle Beach area, but it will likely be spared the worst of this winter weather, forecasters said.

But, how long will these atypically cold mornings last for and what’s going to happen this weekend? As of Thursday morning, the National Weather Service out of Wilmington, NC has said that a wintry mix and light ice are possible in inland Horry County from Friday night through Saturday.

"A more significant storm passes well to our south on Saturday leaving southern New England with just a period of light snow showers expected through the day," the NWS Boston office said on its website Friday morning.
