xAI wants to buy land from City near supercomputer
The request represents a rare public hearing for xAI since the project was announced in June 2024. xAI chose to forgo economic incentives that require disclosing investment and jobs numbers. It first went before a board when it sought to lease land from the Economic Development Growth Engine (EDGE) of Memphis & Shelby County in October 2024.
