BlackBerry shares jumped Friday morning after reporting better-than-expected third-quarter results, days after announcing it was shedding its ailing cybersecurity business, Cylance, at a steep loss.

TORONTO — BlackBerry Ltd. has signed a deal to sell its Cylance security business to Arctic Wolf. Cylance uses artificial intelligence to help users detect malware and prevent cyberattacks.
