Former Brunswick District Attorney Jackie Johnson took the stand Tuesday in her own defense, continuing her criminal trial concerning her alleged mishandling of the investigation into Ahmaud Arbery’s murder.

Jackie Johnson has decided to take the stand to testify at her trial. Johnson is the former Brunswick district attorney accused of meddling in the Ahmaud Arbery murder investigation. She confirmed to the judge Tuesday she would like to testify.

The judge overseeing the criminal trial of former Brunswick District Attorney Jackie Johnson has dismissed one of the two charges against her. The ruling, made Monday in a Glynn County courtroom, comes as Johnson faces accusations stemming from her actions after the fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery in Feb.

The State rested their case Monday in the Jackie Johnson trial. Johnson is the former Brunswick district attorney accused of meddling in the Ahmaud Arbery murder investigation. Monday a judge granted the Defense’s motion for directed verdict of acquittal for count 2 of Jackie Johnson’s indictment.

Jackie Johnson was the top state prosecutor for coastal Glynn County when Arbery was fatally shot on Feb. 23, 2020.

Judge ruled to dismiss one criminal count against Jackie Johnson, the former Brunswick-circuit district attorney accused of improperly influencing the investigation into Ahmaud Arbery's death. The judge said prosecutors failed to present evidence Johnson obstructed Glynn County Police officers.
