Northwestern University and four other schools are under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education for what the federal agency is calling “widespread antisemitic harassment” after mass student protests that broke out last spring against the Israel-Hamas war.

Northwestern University is one of five schools nationwide being investigated by the Department of Education under the Trump Administration for “widespread antisemitic harassment,” the department announced.

The U.S. Department of Education is opening an investigation into alleged incidents of antisemitism at Northwestern University.

The Department of Education inquiry will look into violations of Title VI, which protects students from race, color and national origin bias. The university said it had updated its student code of conduct and would cooperate with the investigation.

The Trump administration is investigating Northwestern University over allegations of widespread antisemitic harassment on campus amid protests over the war in Gaza. The Department of Education announced possible Title Six violations.
