In South Carolina, you can only purchase lottery tickets with cash. However, many state lawmakers, including Governor Henry McMaster, are interested in changing the law to allow South Carolinians to buy lottery tickets using their debit cards.

The South Carolina Senate passed a bill Tuesday which would allow parents to receive vouchers for private schools.

The Senate passed legislation Thursday that provides up to 15,000 scholarships for private K-12 tuition using lottery profits. The 32-12 vote, mostly along party lines, capped two weeks of debate that saw friction among Republicans as some tried to make all students eligible.
