A coalition of U.S. cities and counties on Friday filed a lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump's executive order seeking to force so-called sanctuary jurisdictions to cooperate with his immigration crackdown and mass deportations.

There’s no guarantee the funding will be released. President Donald Trump has ordered his administration to cut off all federal money to immigration sanctuaries to the extent it legally can. That would rip billions of dollars from some of California’s largest cities, from Los Angeles to the Bay Area.

Texas has banned sanctuary cities since 2018, and Mayor Ron Nirenberg says San Antonio cooperates with federal immigration authorities to deport criminals.
