Arab countries are putting together a plan that would rebuild Gaza without displacing its people, guarantee security and governance, Jordan's foreign minister said on Friday, adding that his country could not take more Palestinians.

The push by Trump has turbocharged a reckoning over Jordan’s reliance on U.S. aid and revived existential questions over the country’s identity.

Jordan, already home to over 2 million Palestinians, has strongly rejected Trump’s proposal to relocate more refugees from Gaza, with Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi calling the idea “firm and unwavering” in its opposition. Egypt, too, has raised security concerns over the potential influx of refugees.
