Providence Health & Services in Oregon said Monday it was ready to resume talks with striking nurses at six of its hospitals — and it went on the offensive, accusing physicians also on strike of violating federal labor law.

On the fifth day of the largest health care strike in Oregon history, Providence indicated it is ready to resume negotiation talks with the some 5,000 striking nurses and doctors across its eight hospitals.

The Providence hospital system said it’s ready to begin scheduling negotiations with nurses at six out of its eight hospitals. Thousands of the company’s nurses are currently on strike.
