I got a look at TiVo's smart TV operating system, which aims to compete with Roku and Google. It's coming to the US in a new Sharp LCD.

The jump to the United States from TiVo OS has been a long time coming. The Sharp Smart TV that runs on TiVo will be the first TV in the US to have this operating system and is expected to be released in February 2025. It will have a 55-inch QLED screen with Ultra High Definition and High Dynamic Range, Dolby Atmos audio, and three HDMI ports.

TiVo is back...sort of. Xperi, the owner of the TiVo brand as of 2019, announced at CES 2025 that TiVo OS will be available in the US for the first time on Sharp TVs. The storied TV brand was last seen stateside as the TiVo Stream 4K,

Xperi Corp.'s television-focused consumer brand TiVo will be "entering" the U.S. television market, thanks to a continued expansion of smart TVs powered by TiVo with Sharp Home Electronics Company of America.

Remember TiVo? Its smart TV OS has been available in Europe since last year and now it's coming to the US, starting with a 55-inch QLED TV from Sharp.

TiVo OS was born in 2022 as a platform for smart TVs that wants to facilitate the user experience and content discovery for people. It seeks to make a name for itself in a market
