Boone County Museum of History is an interactive museum of history, art, and popular culture located in the South State Street Historic District in Belvidere, Illinois.

The mission of the Boone County Historical Museum is to stimulate interest in Boone County history through education, research, preservation of artifacts and archival materials. The Boone County Historical Society was organized in 1937 and met for many years in members homes.

The Boone County Historical Society has existed since the mid 1930s, and has operated a museum (Boone County Museum of History, 314 S. State St. Belvidere, IL.) for over 50 years.

The Boone County Historical Society received the largest donation in its history -- an iconic Belvidere mansion and $1 million to help maintain it. So what is the society’s vision for its new acquisition?
