Dec 9, 2024 · The Blue Lagoon on the Reykjanes Peninsula has reopened after its temporary closure due to the November 20th eruption at Sundhnúksgígar. The Blue Lagoon first suspended operations following heavy seismic activity on the peninsula in November 2023.

Apr 9, 2024 · The Blue Lagoon temporarily closed its doors on April 16 due to gas pollution but will reopen on April 17 at 2:00 pm. Due to its close proximity to the eruption site, the Blue Lagoon had to evacuate its guests and temporarily close down all facilities.

Feb 16, 2024 · The Blue Lagoon’s operating hours have been temporarily adjusted. Facilities are now open between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Bookings can be made at 7:00 PM at the latest. As noted in the announcement, the Blue Lagoon is only accessible via an alternative route.

Dec 17, 2023 · The Blue Lagoon has reopened after a month of closure due to the earthquakes on the Reykjanes peninsula. The restaurant Lava and the Lón’s spa have also been reopened. The hotels Silica and Retreat, along with the restaurant Moss, are still closed.

Mar 5, 2024 · All Blue Lagoon operations have been reopened and the opening extends to all operational assets, including the Blue Lagoon, Blue Café, restaurants Lava and Moss, hotels Retreat and Silica, Retreat Spa, and the local store. This is stated in a Blue Lagoon notice, which states that the decision was taken in close consultation with the authorities.
